Brean Theme Park Liquidation: What's Next for the Iconic Attraction? (2026)

In a surprising turn of events, the Brean Theme Park has officially entered liquidation, as confirmed by a recent notice indicating that liquidators were appointed last week. This development places the park in what is referred to as the ‘Resolutions for Winding Up stage.’ At this point, the company must halt all trading activities except those necessary to facilitate the winding-up process.

However, not everything connected to Brean is affected by this situation. The Unity Holidays, along with Brean Splash, Brean Play, and Brean Gym, remain operational and unaffected by the theme park's financial troubles. A representative reached out to Burnham-On-Sea.com to clarify, stating, "Although Brean Theme Park leases land from Unity Holidays, it operates independently. Therefore, any changes regarding the theme park will not impact Unity Holidays or our park in Brean (Unity Beach)."

Reassuringly, the spokesperson added, "The park continues to function normally, and we are looking forward to the reopening of Brean Play, Brean Splash, and Brean Gym as scheduled for the 2026 season. We are committed to enhancing our Unity Beach resort with numerous improvements as part of our ongoing investment strategy."

In related news, Burnham-On-Sea.com has reached out to the individual who owns Brean Theme Park for further comments on the matter.

The roots of Brean Theme Park can be traced back to the 1970s when initial plans for rides were developed, establishing it as a beloved destination for holidaymakers and day visitors alike. Nicholas Stafford from Hazlewoods LLP has been named the liquidator for Brean Theme Park. The primary goal of this liquidation process is to facilitate the fair distribution of the company's assets among its shareholders and creditors. According to a notice published in The Gazette, liquidators were formally appointed on January 28, 2026.

As of now, there has been no announcement regarding any permanent or temporary closures of the park. The notice states: "NOTICE IS GIVEN that the following written resolutions of the above-named Company were passed on January 28, 2026, as a Special resolution and Ordinary resolution respectively: 1. That the Company be wound up voluntarily" and 2. That Nicholas Stafford (IP No: 27270) of Hazlewoods LLP, Staverton Court, Staverton, Cheltenham, GL51 0UX be appointed Liquidator of the Company."

Historically, Brean Theme Park operates from March through October each year. While entry to the park itself is complimentary, visitors must purchase credits to enjoy various rides, which can either be bought inside the park or beforehand. The park's official website promotes the reopening date for 2026 as Saturday, March 14th.

It's worth noting that some local tourism businesses in Brean have observed a decline in trade and visitor numbers in recent years. This downturn is partially attributed to the nearby Pontins holiday park being utilized to house EDF Hinkley Point workers rather than holidaymakers, further complicating the economic landscape for local attractions.
