Parking Chaos as RingGo App Fails, Leaving Drivers Stranded
A popular parking app, RingGo, has gone down, causing a major disruption for drivers across the UK. The app, which allows users to pay for parking via their smartphones, is currently experiencing technical issues, leaving many drivers unable to pay for their parking and potentially facing fines.
The problem has been confirmed by Downdetector, which reports 'user reports show problems'. The app's failure has sparked frustration among users, with many taking to social media to express their anger.
One user, frustrated after a 30-minute train journey, wrote: 'App won’t work, can’t login can’t reset can't register - deleted and reinstalled - still nothing! I better not get a ticket!'. Another user, concerned about the lack of alternative payment methods, asked: 'Will I now get a fine?'
The situation has led to a surge in phone calls to RingGo's customer service, with many users reporting long wait times or an unavailable phone line. One user, after a 20-minute struggle in the app's live chat, received a response from a RingGo operator, who apologized for the issues and assured users that the company is working to resolve them.
George Chamberlain, Communications Manager for RingGo UK and Ireland, stated: 'We are currently experiencing a disturbance to our internal systems which is affecting the RingGo service. Restoring normal service is our highest priority and we are investigating the situation.'
RingGo, owned by the Sweden-based parking technology company Arrive, operates in 17,000 locations across 500 towns and cities in the UK. The company has suspended parking enforcement and advised users to use Pay and Display machines where available, while it works to resolve the technical issues.
